Review: Altinkum means "golden sands" and this resort certainly lives up to its definition. Only one and a half hours from Bodrum airport this resort has everything you need without being too commercialised.
For the culture vultures you can visit the Temple of Apollo at Didim or you can go on a day trip to the ruins or museum at Ephesus.
For those that are purely on holiday to relax you can choose from the sandy beaches (beach 1, 2 or 3) or take a day trip on a boat (which I would recommend) to four locations where you can swim in the sea directly from the boat and one stop at a beach for a sunbathe and a swim then back on board for lunch. Not bad for an all inclusive price of 7GBP per person although it is slightly more expensive if you choose the option that includes all drinks approximately 15GBP.
Alternatively you can always take a Turkish bath for approximately 15GBP or visit the warm outdoor thermal spa at Pammukale.
There are also plenty of affordable and tasty places to eat as well as numerous Karaoke bars (ie British Pub Karaoke and Linnekers Bar).
The majority of Turkish people can speak English and are really friendly people, nothing is too much trouble especially in restaurants and cafes |
