The region’s capital, Barcelona, is as well known for its emblematic buildings by Catalan architects Gaudi and Domenech as it is for its all-night partying.
Eminent artists Picasso, Miró and Tàpies have museums devoted entirely to collections oftheir works, and artistic pieces from all periods are kept in the city’s marvellous museums, including the Museum of the History of Catalonia, the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art.
For something a bit different, visit Sitges, 35km south-west of Barcelona, a small city between the hills and the sea. It’s renowned worldwide for its carnival. |
