Review: We discovered La Ruche ski chalet, Les Carroz from searching for family ski chalet holidays on the web. We have 2 teenage girls and were going with friends who have a 4 year old and a toddler. We wanted somewhere that specialised in families and that could offer ski chalets with in-house childcare for the little ones. I have to say that the level of service both prior to the holiday (in terms of the attention to detail that Caroline from the owners, 360 sun and ski, gave us - prebooking ski lessons, equipment, passes, etc) and also whilst we were there was absolutley brilliant. Every morning (even on their day off) Caroline would take us to our lessons and make sure that we found our correct ski instructor - with kids this helps enormously! The ski chalet (which is run by a married couple with children themselves) sleeps up to 5 families - each in their own family suite. Downstairs there is a large lounge and dining room, plus a TV room for the teenagers to veg out in after their evening meal - children eat around 6pm and adults around 8 pm. A highlight of the week was Nick's amazing cooking - we had thought that it would be "standard chalet food" - you know, spag bol, etc - but Nick really excells and provided us with some of the best meals we have ever had on a ski holiday. The children's meals too were excellent - all fresh and no stand by's of fish fingers and chips! One of the main benefits of this holiday was that our children stayed for free - even at half term! They also have an English nanny who works with Caroline and who looked after the little ones. She was great - lots of craft and outdoor games, and she really bonded with the toddler. All in all one of the best ski holidays we have ever had! And they do summer holidays too - and we have booked up for this summer; can't wait! |
