Review: Lutterworth is a town South of Leicester. We stayed here overnight on our way back from a holiday in Cornwall. We only saw the place on a Sunday so bear in mind that we only had a limited sample of Lutterworths delights but we were disappointed. On a Sunday, the only thing open in Lutterworth are the paper shop and petrol station. No cafes etc. The town seems a bit run down which is a shame since it sits in some wonderful coutryside.
Things to do near Lutterworth.
We left Lutterworth behind and headed to Market Harborough, where there were at least some shops open, although the only caf? we could find was a Caf? Nero.
Naseby
The pivotal Battle of the English Civil war was fought nearby, close to the village of Naseby. We followed signs for a museum, but gave up ? either our navigational skills failed or (as I suspect) the museum has shut. Still. It is still well worth getting to the site of the battle which is signposted from the village. Here, a monument and an informative information board describes the battle and the events that were played out in this beautiful countryside and which were to lead to the formation of Parliament. |
