Review: Situated by The Malecon the 5 star Melia Cohiba Hotel has a lot to offer. A choice of restaurants, bars and friendly staff. If you are doing a twin centre holiday with a beach resort, if you stay there in a Melia Hotel you can get an upgrade which is well worth it. Our room was on the 17th floor and a side room which meant we had panaramic views over The Malecon and Habana Vieja - beautiful.
The only negative things about the hotel are that inside you could have been anywhere, it didn't feel like you were in Cuba, you could have been in Madrid or Paris. Also you had to use the free shuttle service to go into Habana Vieja which for me is the real Havana. Hotels there in some cases were once mansions that have been made into small hotels and keeping the charm. I'll stay there next time. |
