Review: I stayed in the Nikos apartments, Lassi, Kefalonia with Thomson holidays in late July, 2011 with my wife and son.
The apartments are situated at the top of a hill above Lassi. It's a 10 minute walk down hill to the supermarket on the main road at Lassi and a further 5 minutes from there to the beach.
Turn right from the apartments and in one minute, you're at the top of the hill and a 15 minute walk down to the centre of Argostoli with its shops, restaurants, busy night life, giant turtles and ferry to Lixouri
If you have trouble walking up steep hills, then you would need to catch taxis (5 euros per trip) since the apartments are located almost at the crest of the hill, but this is compemsated for by the great views and also the fact that it's a walk down to either Lassi or Argostoli.
The apartment was really clean (cleaned every 2 days) and had everything we needed - cooking utensils, sharp knife, bottle opener, hair dryer, safe, fridge, 2 hot plates. The fridge was a little old, but worked fine.
We didn't cook any meals, but prepared breakfast each morning.
The apartments all have balconies with views over the sea - ideal for breakfast or an end of evening glass of the (excellent) local white robola white wine
The rooms have airconditioning units which can be used for an additional charge (5 Euros/day), but we didn't have need of this - just opening the balcony doors and the main door for a few minutes once the day has cooled was enough to bring a refreshing blast of cool evening air through the room.
There's a lovely, quiet pool with views over the Ionian sea and, when we were there at least, plenty of sun loungers and umbrellas to go round. There's also a pool with a bar accross the road so if you fancy a daytime tipple or a night cap (before 12.30am), that's handy
The bar has lovely views from the hillside and the staff are really friendly. I think they do bar snacks and put on other events like a weekly, 'eat as much as you like' barbecue and film screenings, but we were out enjoying the island most nights.
When i say 'accross the road', the bar is actually behind another development of apartments and so isn't visible from the Nikos apartments and is quiet.
For anybody hiring a car, there's plenty of space to park off road by the apartments.
Overall, I'd say, nice quiet relaxing apartments, reasonably close to beach and nightlife/shops of Argostoli and a good base for exploring Kefalonia. |
