Review: Me, my OH and his 11 year son stayed in a Haven caravan in Prestatyn for 5 days late August this year. I love Wales scenery and heritage so was really looking forward to visiting. Prestatyn is easy to reach about 40 mins drive from Chester and is well sign posted. It is a small town with great coastal views and breathtaking scenery of cliffs, waterfalls etc. The town centre is small but has a selection of nice shops/cafes/supermarkets to browse around. The seafront is very quiet, not commercialised and the sand is clean, free from litter and ideal to take young children to. The lack of amenities/visiting attractions on the front was a little of a let down. I think more could be made of the seaside resort to make it more exciting. There was no cafes on the front either - major let down as I love my coffee by the sea!
We used Prestatyn pretty much as a base to explore Wales as there wasnt enough there to capture our excitement for long. It is close to lots of other resorts such as Rhyl, Llandudno, Colwyn Bay and Rhos on Sea.
One must see attraction is the Dyserth Waterfall just a 2 min drive outside of Prestatyn. It is really gorgeous and just 30p to see! There is a small cafe at the bottom too which is family run and very friendly.
Prestatyn is in a gorgeous part of Wales and me and my partner agreed that we would visit it again but maybe stay in Llandudno which has more amenities and seems to be more bustling with activity that Prestatyn lacks. |
