Review: As soon as you drive up to Puerto Pollensa (45 mins from Palma Airport on a good day) and come around the bend, you see the view which literally takes your breath away. The mountains which shelter the bay are stunning, and the beaches range from wide and spacious, to smaller alcove beaches. The bay of Puerto Pollensa is horse-shoe-shaped and therefore means there are no big waves; just a millpond meaning it's very safe for children. When you see the sun setting over the mountains it honestly will remain a place you will remember for a long time.

The resort on a whole doesn't have any nightlife; this is a family resort, or for younger couples who don't like the clubby 18-30 scene and simply want a relaxed beach holiday. There are so many restaurants to chose from mainly along Pine Walk which is a promenade next to the sea covered with trees. Eolo do the best pizza and Tiberi is another favourite of mine. Walk aroud the back streets too, to find restaurants you didn't think were there! There is a karaoke bar for those who like that sort of thing, and two pubs one being loud and the other fairly quiet. Restaurants will quite happily let you sit outside til the wee hours with drinks as well which is lovely when you are sitting watching the horizon. There is also a nightclub for those who want to dance into the small hours but it doesn't get going til around 3am (it's open til 6am). But don't let this put you off, you would never even know it was there and it is not on the main walk where the bars and restaurants are so it will not affect you in the slightest and is mainly frequented by the locals.

The port is stunning and you could spend hours looking at boats and there's also some great fishing to be had. The green flag beaches are so big that you will never struggle to find a sunbed or a place to lay your towel and lifeguards are on duty all day during high season. Plenty of daytrips are on offer too.

Puerto Pollensa isn't the place to go if you want a lively holiday. But if you want a holiday where all you want to do is lie on the beach, or by the pool and have some great food then this is the place for you. No pushy PRs trying to drag you into the local bars here. And besides if you want a lively night out, Alcudia is a ten minute drive up the road and has all the bars and clubs you'll need.

One of my favourite places.
