Review: Reykjavik is a clean, friendly city, everyone speaks English. Lots of cultural heritage as well as modern entertainment and facilities. Entertainment very expensive (one glass of house wine in a bistro reataurant was £7) although on a weekend break you can budget to take this into account.
Booking excursions before you travel can work out cheaper and they are the best way to see everything in a short time. Buses to and from the airport are much cheaper than taxis. Arrange to visit the Blue Lagoon on your way to or from the airport to save time and duplicating travel. It's on the same route as the airport and a lovely way to start or finish your break in this beautiful country.
The tours are professionally run, informative and exciting. Must-sees include The Golden Circle (volcanic crater, Geysir hot springs, Hverageroi greenhouse village and Pingvellir National Park)and the City Tour, although there are also more adventurous Winter tours (snow mobiling, glacier walks etc)
Booking a combination of tours together also works out cheaper.
Overall, a wonderful experience of a different landscape with pleasant people. |
