Review: Woolacombe, situated on the north coast of Devon is the place you should go to if you would like a little bit of 'surf' culture without travelling abroad, or to tourist traps like Newquay. The huge golden bay is perfect for children - it really is about two miles long! The sea is, frankly, freezing cold but you soon get used to it. It can, however, be dangerous so make sure you keep an eye on what the lifeguards are telling you. The adjoining village is small and quaint with some lovely cafes and trendy surf shops. Surf gear can also be hired for surprisingly reasonable prices from a number of shacks along the beach.
